May Days

On the first of May, it snowed. A few days later, a fox visited me. Today, it rained frigid sleet from thundering clouds.

I see green grass sprouting cautiously in yellowed fields. Birch buds are swelling into the promise of leaves. It has been so cold, yet twilight lingers into the morning.

But still. I’m thinking hurry up summer.

red fox and wary bird
red fox pounce!

cloud of doom
